Shortly after 2am this morning KIVFD and surrounding companies were alerted to the area of Eastbound Route 50 & South Piney Road for a Motor Vehicle Collision involving a commercial vehicle. While units were responding they were notified the vehicle was on fire. First arriving units arrived to find a tractor trailer fully involved. One patient was transported to UMD Shock Trauma via Maryland State Police Aviation and one patient was transported to a local hospital by QACDES. Units operated on scene for under two hours before returning to service.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the Maryland State Police.
